About NEW.Mech
NEW.Mech is a one-day workshop that aims to bring together the New England Mechanics community with an interest in exploring new research directions in the mechanics of materials and structures, and provides an opportunity to share the latest advancements in the field.
Each year, various universities (with their respective sponsors) volunteer to host this conference at their campus. Please find a list of current participating universities in the Participating Universities page.
The one-day workshop is divided into 4 sections:
1. Invited Keynote speakers: typically 3-4 speakers
2. Selected short talk speakers: large sessions where each speaker is allocated 3-6 minutes for a short presentation with potential for questions at the end.
3. Poster session: poster boards (or e-poster screens) where guests are can mingle around and interact with presenters. Short talk presenters are also allowed to present a poster to allow extension of their short talk presentations.
4. Hands-on demo (does not apply to every year): table that allows presenters to bring demos for the community to interact with.
